The Choice to Rejoice
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if
need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that
the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that
perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory
at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not
see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving
the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:6-9
Rejoicing
is joy in action, and it is most noteworthy that it is the response God expects
from us regardless of circumstance. We are encouraged not only to rejoice in
times of abundance and favor, but especially in times of trials and hardships.
This is where the power of the Spirit of God seeks to reveal to us the
exceeding goodness of our God and the blessing of a victorious life. It is
doubtful any of us would choose joy through suffering, but the Lord has chosen
it for us; it is His most useful tool for purifying our faith. Remember, it is
impossible to please God without faith; and we receive no greater joy than that
of knowing the Lord is pleased with us.
-Worrying vs. Rejoicing. Choose joy.
-Grieving vs. Rejoicing. Choose joy.
-Confusion vs. Joy. Choose joy.
-Fainting vs. Rejoicing. Choose joy.
Choosing joy!
