Galatians 5:13
For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
When the Lord sets us
free, He also gives us the discipline that keeps our liberty from turning into
license. Without the moment-by-moment guidance of the Spirit, I will use my
new-found freedom as a doctrine of self-indulgence, and I'll serve myself and
my purposes and call it ministry. After all, I'm free to do what I want and think is best - right? That is an arrogant spirit
that produces the worst type of bondage, because it mistakes liberty for
license. The liberty I walk in was bought and paid for by the Lamb of
God, who took away my debt and set me free from the bondage and wages of sin. Nails
were driven through the hands and feet of our Lord, and the banner waving over our lives is stained with His
Blood. Freedom in Christ has been given that I might testify of the Great
Emancipator, and show the world what it means to be loosed from the chains of
self and sin, to overcome my fears by faith, and to serve the Lord without a
trace of self-consciousness. Oh, that we would realize that Christ has
liberated and set us apart for His own pleasure. Now we are free to be
love-slaves of our Lord and King, and to belong to Him and no one else - not
even ourselves!
Love you and praying
for you,
